Strong reserves team unable to pick up 3 points

Scole travelled to close rival Harleston Town reserves knowing that anything less than a victory would see them lose out on promotion and hand promotion to their opposition.

The wind was going to play a spoiling part in this long awaited match and with a large crowd watching the stage was set for drama. Scole went with the wind in the first half blowing straight down the pitch and struggled to control the length of their passes. Harleston had an early dangerous cross that was cleared and then Joe Hooton for Scole had his shot rebound of the foot of the post. The game was vary scrappy as neither team really took control of the conditions and then after 25 minutes the home team scored following a rebound in the penalty area. Scole responded well and finally the game started to liven up and a shot for Scole was blocked and the ball fell to Hooton who knocked home the equaliser. A couple of minutes later and the visitors were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the area and Jow Andrews stepped up and curled the ball in the top right corner to put Scole in front as the half-time whistle came.
Scole knew that the home side would come at them at the start of the second half but with only 5 minutes in the Scole defence went walkabout and a Harleston forward ran onto a through ball and lobbed the on-coming keeper Josh Goodwin for the equlaiser. Scole then huffed and puffed and had most of the possession but did not create too many clearcut chances with long range shots from Jack Payne and Harry Rolingson saved or wide. Harleston were still looking dangerous on the break but no further goals meant that Harleston maintained the three point gap and barring a 67 goal miracle in Scole's final game of the season away against champions Belton they will finish third!

A dissapointing end to the season with promotion only a possibility in fantasy football or perhaps in a commitee meeitng sometime in June now!
Man of the match: Joe Andrews.
