Scole faced Wymondham Town this weekend with the former title challengers on a difficult run of form since the turn of the year. As ever though Wymondham always offer a very stern test and have an array of players who have graced higher level leagues. Scole had a couple of selection issues themselves but welcomed back skipper Ben Norton-Hugman and gave striker Harry Rollingson his maiden appearance this season in the 1st team.
The game started quite flat but Scole were definitely having the lions share of possession and in the 13th minute striker Tom Dade created and scored the opening goal with a tremendous chipped effort into the Wymondham net. Scole should have had more goals as Wymondham struggled to get a foothold but it wasn't until just before half-time that the host's got a second when Norton-Hugman finished following a Joe Andrews corner that was knocked down by Dan Betts.
In the 1st minute of the second half Harry Rollingson was brought down in the 18 yard box and Kieran Manning stepped up to put away his second penalty in consecutive weeks for goal number 3. Five minutes later Wymondham were awarded their own spot kick following a soft foul but the striker blasted over and Scole punished them when substitute Thomas Davey scored a good header from fellow replacement Harry Brookes' cross after only being on the pitch for a couple of minutes. Brookes also got on the scoresheet with quarter of an hour to go when he finished following a good move down the right wing and a perfect cross by Tom Dade to make it 5-0 to the home side.
An interruption in play following a verbal altercation between some Wymondham players and the Assistant Referee jolted them into life and they scored 2 consolation goals in the final 10 minutes as the game began to get a bit edgy. Scole held firm though and fully deserved the 3 points to lift them up place to 6th in the table and over the 40 point mark for the season.
Man of the Match this week was picked by club secretary and reserves manager Paul Head and he chose centre midfielder Jordan Balls (sponsored by Malcolm Kidd Motor Engineer) for his mature and disciplined display.
