Rearranged game sees Scole Vets take hold of third place
Scole Vets restarted after Christmas with a home match against Wensum Albion, rearranged from December. Micky Ellis returned to playing duties and Dale De Burgh made his debut. With 4 regulars missing, the hosts were still able to field a full 16 players. Playing at Dickleburgh, Scole were slow to start and Wensum had the better of the early exchanges. However, against the run of play, Goreham opened the scoring latching onto a long ball and beating the keeper at the second attempt. The visitors kept on pressing forward and spurned some half chances, before Hughes headed home Powell's corner. Simon Bartram added a third before the break, but the visitors pulled a goal back from close range just before half time.
The second half started with Wensum pushing to get back into the game, but Scole assumed control and wasted a host of chances to add to the scoreline. The visitors looked dangerous on the break and keeper Steve Bartram made a superb save from an attempted long range lob. Barrett missed two easy chances in the box, but Scole held on for a 3-1 victory, cementing third place in the league.
