Scole United Vets took on Thetford Town in a top the table clash at Ransome Avenue. With some players missing, Scole still fielded quite a strong side, though the visitors remain unbeaten this season so far. Scole started bright;y but without creating any clear cut chances. Thetford doubled up on Scole’s wing backs and grew in confidence. A free-kick conceded on the edge of the area was converted expertly to give Thetford the lead. Goreham was then brought down and keeper Steve Bartram dispatched the resulting penalty. A deliberate stamp on Manning was only deemed a bookable offence by the official, Hughes also seeing yellow for his reaction. Minutes later Scole were behind again from the disarray surrounding the stamp. Thetford increased their lead before Hal time to make it 3-1.
After the break, Scole dug in with some heroic defending and a smart save by Steve Bartram from another well taken free kick. Scole finished the game with 10, Hughes receiving a second yellow card, but managed to stop Thetford from adding to the score.
