Scole Vets get back to winning ways
Despite kit clash, Scole run out winners.
Scole Vets travelled to Rackheath to play Sole & Heel, looking to get back from two heavy defeats. This was a winnable game, with Scole having run out 2-0 winners at Ransome Avenue earlier in the season, however Scole were missing Jonny Hanner, who has been having a great season so far. With Brian Midwinter returning, Scole’s defence was bolstered, with Simon Bartram filling in a forward role. With almost clashing kit, playing into the wind and sun, the first half was a tense affair.
Keeper Bartram tipped an effort over the bar, but despite possession, the hosts didn’t really pose a great goal threat. Scole toiled for most of the half, but took the lead when Simon Bartram latched onto Wootton’s long ball, driving home to finish. A rare error from keeper Bartram gave the hosts a header in to equalize from a corner. Scole then found their feet a bit better and retook the lead just before the break. Ruddock headed back to Partridge, who then played the striker in to finish.
After the break, the hosts started with attacking intent, but failed to produce a clear chance. Bannon came on and chased down up front, and pressure on the defence led to Powell crossing to Earrye, who finished at the second attempt. Hughes made some important interventions at the back, as the hosts started to gain the upper hand, but Scole held firm to take all three points.
