Scole Vets win big at home
Scole go nap against last season’s runners-up.
Scole Vets welcomed a depleted Unthank Arms to Ransome Avenue, looking to build on their win from their last game. The opposition gamely played with only 10 players, and with the strong wind blowing across the pitch, this was not going to be a classic. Scole started off brightly, but were hindered by the conditions and seemed to be off beat against 10 men. Playing a bit too deep allowed Unthank Arms plenty of possession, but they offered little goal threat. In the last 10minutes of the first period, Scole took control when Simon Bartram headed in Powell’s corner. Bartram added his and Scole’s second right on half time, bundling in Hanner’s pass.
After the break, Scole introduced Goreham with almost immediate impact. He headed in Scole’s third from another Powell corner, before rounding two players to finish in the left corner. Scole were enjoying plenty of possession now, with the opposition tiring. Keeper Bartram had little to do, although Unthank managed a few breakaway attacks. Goreham completed his hat trick, converting a spot kick after Barrett was tripped. Scole created the clearer chances, but there was no further score.
