Scole Vets record first win
Two goals enough to see off Sole & Heel.
Scole Veterans welcomed Sole & Heel to Ransome Avenue this afternoon, looking for their first win of the season. The opposition had won both their previous games and came looking for a third straight win. Scole started very well dominating early possession, but lost their way mid way through the half. With Midwinter back in the home defence, chances were still limited, though keeper Bartram made a very good save during this period. When Scole worked out the midfield positions, Hanner pushed forward and was rewarded with the opening goal. Simon Bartram and Ruddock worked hard to hold up the ball all game, the former benefitted from some poor defending and grabbed a second before the break. Throughout the first period, Earrye was superb in the left wing back position
After the break, Scole’s pressure continued to tell. A back to front move would have seen an impressive third, but Hanner’s effort grazed off the bar to safety. Changes were made to add fresh legs, but Sole & Heel grew into the game as Scole dropped deeper in defence. Despite all their possession in the late second half, the visitors failed to threaten Bartram’s goal. Scole held the formation well and closed out a 2-0 win.
