Vets disappointed to concede late equaliser, but register their first league point.
Scole Vets travelled to fellow promoted team Wensum Albion, looking for their first league points. Reverting initially to a 4-4-2 formation, Scole dominated early possession but could not convert any chances. Wensum were happy to play on the break and actually opened the scoring, their central striker latching onto a long ball, with Scole’s defence not holding their line. Wensum could have had another from a similar break, but despite these chances, Scole still had the majority of possession and played the better football. Switching to 3-5-2, Scole negated Wensum’s attacking threat, and equalised when Ruddock tucked home Goreham’s square pass. Further pressure on the Wensum goal continued, on another day Goreham would have had a Hat-trick, but somehow these efforts were kept out. A second goal did follow with Hughes’ looping header from a corner, again with Goreham making his presence felt.
The midfield was working better and created lots of chances which really should have been taken, Scole were left to rue these, a free header from a free kick saw the hosts draw level right at the death.
