Solid Reserves performance
Away win keeps reserves good start going
Scole reserves made it 4 wins from 5 league games so far this season with a strong and solid performance away at Poringland Wanderers reserves. Starting the match down the hill Scole took the game to the home team and the returning Matt Heuschneider fired just over from the edge of the area.
Poringland were trying to play football but were reduced to hitting long balls to the front men that the Scole back 4 dealt with battling well against a couple of decent players. Scole made the early breakthrough after 18 minutes when Jordan Walters was released in the box and he found the back of the net with ease. Walters made it 2 a few minutes later when his first shot was saved by the keeper but Walters reacted quickest and toe-poked home. Poringland nearly pulled one back when a header from their no 8 bounced on top of the bar. Matty Anderson who was making some good movement up top for Scole then added a third with a smart little header into the corner. H-T 3-0
Ben Cussons still returning to fitness, then made way for Oscar Marshal to come and he showed some great touches in midfield but the 3 points were there for the taking for Scole as long as they didnt do anything silly and the team kept discipline and kept probing for a fourth to seal the match, this came eventually courtesy of another Anderson header this time at the far post from an unusually long Walters corner.
Scole saw the remainder of the game out without any great fuss and retained their good start to the season.
Nice to see referee Vince Roper still out in the middle and showed what can be achieved with a bit of common sense.
Still early days in the season for Scole but onwards to the next game and see where our attitude and performances take us.
Man of the match: Luke Gould had an excellent game at centre-half but this week goes to Matt Heuschneider whose battling and energy we have missed in the centre of midfield and who managed to get through a game without being booked!
