Reserves crash out of league cup after being 3-1 up
The reserves travelled the short distance to play higher league opposition in Bungay Town reserves in round 3 of the league cup on Saturday.
Scole got off to a great start when the returning Harry Browne wriggled through the Bungay defence in the second minute a rifled the ball home to put Scole 1-0 up. Scole however struggled to get to grips with the strong breeze blowing down the pitch against them and the tall Bungay defence were winning most headers. Hence Scole could not retain the ball very well and Bungay kept putting the pressure on the visitors defence with balls into their front 2. Bungay equalised after 25 minutes when the ball was cleared and then knocked back into the box again and player looking suspiciously offside knocked home. Scole continued to work hard and the strong running of another returning player Brendan Head casued havoc as he ran into the box only for a home defender to knock the ball past his own keeper to put Scole up 2-1 at half time. the enxt goal was imnportnant and Scole got it in the first minute of the second half as Head's left foot shot was not held by the keeper and Nathan Doe nipped in to tuck the ball home to make it 3-1. Unfortunately Scole then stopped thinking the game was won and Bungay hauled themselves back into the game with a second goal. This boosted Bungay and Scole could not get back into their rhythm trying to play long balls instead of keeping it simple. Bungay's equaliser came with another through ball that the visitors defence were looking to the linesman for offisde which did not come and the forward strode through to equalise. With 2 minutes remaining a corner was not cleared and a Bungay forward powered home to their delight and Scole's dishevelment!
Scole trudged of att the end shell shocked at giving the game away.
Man of the match Brendan Head whose strong running caused Bungay problems although ran out of juice towards the end!
