Reserves lose unbeaten tag
Top of the table clash ends in defeat
A top of the table clash with both sides going into the game not dropping a point to date so something had to give, unfortunately it was Scole coming away defeated. Scole started the game well with young Josh Musk making his debut in goal and took the game to Tacolneston who were forced into various errors. Max Turner playing up top on his own was doing same great work winning headers and holding the ball up. Scole ahs the first effort on target when Arun Lucraft turned in the box and his shot was turned around the post by the home keeper. Scole went close when Turner held the ball for Harry Abbott who could not get any force behind his shot on goal. Tacolneston by now however had got their game together and had forced Scole back a few times when their centre forward burst through 2 defenders and clipped his shot over the on-coming Musk towards the line, Tom Davey managed to get back but could only clear to the post and the rebound was forced into the goal. The home team took confidence from the goal and looked much more dangerous and scored a second before the break from a header. Musk then made a couple of excellent saves to keep Scole in the game coming up to half-time.
Scole came out for the second half determined to improve a ndchanged to a more attacking formation with Lucraft pushing forward. Tacolneston however probably still looked the better team and created a few chances and pushed the Scole back four several times from set pieces. Tacolneston got their third after 70 minutes but Scole kept probing and managed to pull one back following a Jack Stevenson free-kick that the home keeper pushed onto the bar and Lucraft followed up and headed in. Scole threw caution to the wind now and Ben Cussons pushed up front as well and his header from a corner just looped over the bar. No further chances before the end saw Tacolneston grab all 3 points.
Just a step too far with so many unavailable but as a reserve team this will happen from time to time and we have to find a way to cope with the situation. Man of the match for his first half performance Max Turner.
