ALI BANNON SCORES THE WINNER!!
Reserves struggles to overcome lowly South Walsham reserves
The reserves travelled to Lingwood to play lowly South Walsham reserves as the cost of hiring their own pitch has been made too expensive.
Scole in their changed kit of blue and white never settled on the bumpy pitch and did not take the threat of South Walsham seriously enough especially as their first team did not have a game and they had 6 players in their line up who played for their first team the week previously!
The warning signs were there as Scole struggled to put 2 passes together and a couple of near misses from the home team. Scole also forced their way into the opposition penalty box but Brendan Head's shot went wide. The home team were delighted when their striker was forced wide but his chip found the back of the net over keeper Mark Woodcock. Scole were struggling to get into thier stride but they did show a bit more urgency and started to press the back four. Several chance went begging as Scole became frustrated with themselves and the fussy referee.
Scole eventually found the net following a corner Ben Cussons was forced wide and he turned and crossed for Isaac Watkinson to meet the ball with a fierce header straight into the back of the goal for the equaliser.
Half-time came and Scole came out strongly for the second half and took the lead within 5 minutes when Matt Heuschneider met the ball on the edge of the penalty area and his shot rocketed into the back of the net. Five minutes later and Harry Browne got on the end of a corss and toe-poked the ball home for Scole's third. Scole though they would then go on and score a few more but Walsham had other thoughts and a through ball found their striker and as he knocked the ball past Woodcock he was unceremoniously bowled over with 2 defenders beside him perhaps saving him from a red card. The penalty was confidently struck home to make it 3-2 .
It wqs make or break for Scole and 51 year old Ali Bannon was sent on and within aminute had scored Scole's fourth with his 1st,2nd and 3rd touches of the match all in one move as he latched onto Woodcock's long clearance and lobbed the keeper with a knee, shin and foot special!!
Still Scole had not won it and Walsham pushed forward and scored a third to give Scole the jitters as Walsham also hit a post near the end. Scole held on for the three points and are left with 3 home games to complete the season.
Man of the match: Has to go to match winner Ali Bannon - trains most weeks gets a call every now and then and always runs his socks off for however long he plays for!!
