Reserves Battle For Win
Second win on the trot for reserves
The reserves traveled the short distance up the A140 to visit Newton Flotman who have a completely different management and team this season all moving over from Norman Wanderers so it was a bit of an unknown. However Scole fielding some experienced players felt confident of 3 points.
Scole started brightly but could not get any rhythm going on a pitch with long grass and that proved to be the factor that contributed most to the match as both team struggled to play any football and it ended up being a battle and percentages game in the end. After the bright start Flotman started to find space down the channels and a cross went right across the goal mouth with no home player able to get a touch, the did however take the lead after 15 minutes with a fine strike from just inside the box that beat keeper Harry Green. Scole upped their game and a great ball from Jake Wooton found Harry Rolingson who skipped past the keeper and side-footed home. Scole should have scored more but took the lead when Will Goulding was given time and space on the edge of the box and calmly found the back of the net for a half-time score of 2-1.
Scoel were still in the ascendancy without playing any great football but Flotman still battled on and thought they had an equaliser when the ball hit the bar and came down onto the line - the Scole linesman flagged for a goal but the referee overruled him much to the annoyance of the home team. Scole gave themselves some breathing space soon after when a backpass form the home team found Goulding just inside the box and he finished as Goulding can finish. Scole thought there day was done but Flotman pulled one back from the spot and had to cling on a bit towards the end.
Early days but 2 wins from 2 without playing any great football to date but battling for the 3 points each time.
Man of the match: Harry Rolingson for his non-stop running that unnerved the home defence every time.
