Reserves Stumble Over Line
Importnant 3 points on the board as reserves struggle for form
Scole entertained Thetford Rovers reserves and perhaps thought that there were 3 points for the taking seeing the squad that was on the field however depsite having a few good chances in the first half did not play anything like their potential and were unable to get any football going at all. Both Goulding and McCue had chances that on their day they normally slip home but it was not their day. It looked very much like being one of those days when James Platt
brought a player down just inside the box and the penalty was tucked away to give the visitors an unlikely lead. Scole upped their intensity at this stage and Ben Cussons
waded through the Thetfor defence and planted his shot past the keeper for an equaliser before half-time. Sam Macdowall
in goal had to be on his toes to keep a coupld of shots out for the visitors before the whisltle came.
Scole came out for the second half in a more determined mood but were struggling to break down a determined defence until Tom Green
maanged to glance a header into the far corner for Scole to take the lead. That turned out to be the winner in what was a quickly forgettable game.
Scole showed character to get the 3 points which is the main point in a game where they did not play well and they will be tested much harder over the season.
Man of the match: Sam Macdowall
