With the 1st team missing 8 players and the reserves also struggling for numbers it was always going to be a job to field 2 competitive sides and after texts.calls & pleas going out to a multitude of players not producing the requisite numbers the reserve game unfortunately bit the dust!
This did however allow the 1st to field a side and travel with 3 substitutes, a feat that seemed unlikely at 23:00 on Friday night! Although it was a pretty young and inexperienced squad they took the game to a tough Wymondham side known for their aggression and physicality. Scole played some great football in the 1st half, and had the lions share of possession and territory! Unfortunately as has been the case on to many occasions this season Scole did not carry enough goal threat and didn't make enough of their advantage! Wymondham began to get more physical as the game reached the middle stages and were fortunate not to have fallen foul of the no nonsense official who although administered plenty of admonishment did not produce any cautions! A bouyed up Wymondham scored the opener in scrappy circumstances when former Diss Town defender Kyle Downes glanced in a header from a free kick on the 50th minute. The young Scole side lost their momentum after that and 20 minutes later Wymondham doubled their lead to kill off any potential fightback.
A disappointing result but Scole stood up well to some tough challenges and tackles and this will be a well learnt lesson for some of these young players in the future!
Player of the match: This week 17 years old Lawrence Brown playing in centre midfield showed some good positional awareness and composure on the ball and was the pick of the bunch for a consistent 90 minutes.
