Scole battle hard at league leaders
By Alan Boulter
Canister fc 4 v 2 Scole United fc
Scole faced league leaders Caister away at Allendale Road this week. Following the departure of another player but buoyed by the signing from East Harling fc of defender/midfielder Dan Betts.
Caister kicked the game off at furious pace and took the lead in the 7th minute following a blistering strike from their left back which he will cherish for all time. Scole struggled to get in the game and the home side came close to a second when they hit the woodwork. Slowly though Scole began to settle down and the back four began to get comfortable and soak up the pressure. Striker Kieran Manning
got his third goal in three games when his speculative cross shot eluded the keeper for the equaliser just before half-time.
Caister retook the lead following an unfortunate deflection in the Scole defence for the second week running just after half-time but Scole's never say die attitude got them back into the game when Kev Riches scored from close range after a Cal Bray corner. The game flowed end to end when Caister got a third following a messy goalmouth scramble. Scole kept looking for the equaliser and changed formation but on the 93rd minute Caister counter attacked and won a penalty which was despatched to give the game a slightly skewed look result wise but again this new look Scole side can be rightly proud of their performance.
None more so than young full back Joe Andrews
who wins this week's Player of the match.
Next week is a home game against Wroxham reserves.
