" Scole hangover carries on...."

Scole United Fc 0 v 3 Waveney Fc

In a week when it was finally confirmed that Manager & Asst Jon Abbott & Lewi Plowman had taken the reins at local rivals Diss Town, Scole had their 1st home game since mid November. Waveney were the opposition and their recent form & league position suggested that it would be a tough game.
However the game started as a fairly slow paced affair. Both sides were scrappy in possession initially and any signs of quality were few and far between. Scole slowly began to gain the upper hand and dominated the game without making to many clear cut chances. Forwards Kieran Manning & Brad Hunt had a couple of half chances and winger Callum Bray was delivering some dangerous balls in but inevitably as seems to be way at the moment Waveney took the lead. Scole had a corner which was cleared without causing to much distress, then an individual defensive error changed everything in an instant and the dark clouds of doubt seemed to envelope the home side. Waveney scored a second just before the interval when inexperience was probably to blame with the wily Waveney striker getting his marker in sixes & sevens and gaining enough space not to give keeper Kai Hewitt a chance.
Once again a half-time rallying call seemed to spark a revival but the cause was not helped by the loss of midfielder Ben Norton-Hugman and defender Lawrence Brown to injuries. Scole pushed the away side back but Waveney were defending comfortably and just hitting back on the break. It was one of these breaks that resulted in the final goal of the game when a rash challenge resulted in a dangerous free kick which was finished in fine style to kill off anymore Scole resistance.
A disappointing result and at times disappointing performance, which shows how unsettling the last few weeks have been for this talented squad of players.Hopefully they will pull things round soon and settle down to show their true colours.

Next week they face an away game at College Meadow to face Beccles Town 14:30 kick off.
