'Scole knocked out of Mummery Cup after extra time at Bradenham'
By Alan Boulter
Bradenham Wanderers FC 3 v 1 Scole United (AET - 1-1 after 90 mins)
Scole faced Bradenham Wanderers in a cup competition for the second weekend on the bounce. This time it was a Mummery Cup 2nd round tie and for the 1st time this season Scole had an away match to travel to. A place in the 1/4 finals was the incentive and following last weeks Senior Cup triumph Scole were full of confidence. This spilled over into the match when Scole took a 1st minute lead with left winger Callum Bray
finishing off right winger Joe Hooton
's cross to give the away side a brilliant start. The game settled down with both sides having a fair share of possession. Skipper Ashley Baxter
came close with a 25 yard pile-driver but the scoreboard remained the same at half-time. Bradenham who posted a stronger line-up than last week slowly began to gain the upper hand as the game went on and the equaliser came in the 82nd minute when in all honesty some slack defending from Scole was to blame. This took the game into extra-time and the momentum was with the home side. 6 minutes into the 1st period of extra time saw Bradenham take the lead for the 1st time and try as they might Scole could not get back on equal terms. Bradenham sealed the win late in the 2nd period and Scole's Mummery cup hopes were over for another season.
Another tight game against a highly rated Premier side managed by former Diss Town manager Rob Taylor which shows Scole have come a long way but can't afford to take anything for granted at this level. Worth mentioning a solid debut from new signing from Harleston Town, defender Lee Tricker
coming on as a replacement in the second half for Scole.
Next game is another Cup tie, this time in the second round of the Senior Cup away at North Norfolk side Sheringham next Saturday 14:30 kick off.
