'Scole come back from 2 down to beat a spirited Wroxham in extra time'

Scole United fc 3 v 2 Wroxham fc Reserves (AET 2-2 at FT)

Scole welcomed a young but very determined Wroxham Reserves to Ransome Avenue for a 1st round tie in the Mummery Cup. Any ideas that Scole could bully or intimidate their young opponents were dispelled by the robust and physical nature of the' Yachtsmen's' play. Scole definitely had the better of the opening half with James Harrison coming close and Ashley Baxter having a goal disallowed for a foul on the keeper by Connor Kerry. Kerry's rotten run in front of goal continued as again he failed to convert 2 or 3 good chances. His overall play was superb and once he gets one the goals will flow but his luck has deserted him. The sucker punch came a minute before half-time when Wroxham converted a rare chance from distance to give the away side a 0-1 lead at the interval.
7 mins into the 2nd half they doubled their lead when a defensive error allowed Ollie Woods a one on one with Kai Hewitt and Woods slotted home his and Wroxham's second of the game. Scole then piled on the pressure and once again it was young Josh Lucraft who was the catalyst. A pinpoint cross from the right hand side was met with power by sub Ryan Perry and his header flew past the keeper. 5 minutes later Lucraft set up the equaliser for fellow teenager Kieran Manning to set the comeback in motion. Harrison nearly sealed in the 90th minutes but his shot came back off a post so 10 minutes each way of extra time beckoned.
Scole were well on top now and Harrison had a header saved on the line 2 minutes in. The winner came from an unlikely source in the 2nd period when skipper Jordan Balls got his head to a Harrison cross to beat the despairing goalie. A deserved victory in the end and Scole showed good character to come back from a 2 goal deficit to progress into the hat for round 2.
Man of the Match: Defender Alex Blakely was solid all game and showed some great technical ability & strength. (picked by Chris Ninham)

Next Game is a top of the table affair between ourselves & joint leaders Caister United. 14:30 kick off at Ransome Avenue.
