"Scole back in winning ways with a brace from Connor Kerry!"
Scole United fc 2 v 0 Hindringham fc
Scole welcomed Hindringham knowing that only 3 points would keep them in contention for promotion. They welcomed back Bradley Hunt
after illness and gave new signing Liam Smith
his debut. On the negative they were still without injured keeper Ben Buckmaster, and young defenders Reece Lanchester & Lawrence Brown.
The home side started brightly although it was Hindringham who garnished the 1st real chance of the game after some excellent play on the right hand side presented the away side's forward with a great chance but he fluffed his lines and his shot went wide, when he really should have given Hindringham the lead!
The remainder of the 1st half was a scrappy affair with Scole rarely looking like scoring and Hindringham defending well. Half-time could not come soon enough for Scole with arguably their worst 45 minutes of the season. They knew they had a big 2nd half ahead of them and they had to find a way to break down a side who had been excellent in the 1st half.
An early goal is what was required and that is exactly what they got after some brilliant work from debutant Liam Smith
forced the Hindringham keeper into a good save allowing Connor Kerry
to give the home side the lead with a tap in. Knowing a second would kill the game off and were on the front front but on numerous occasions they were denied by excellent defending and goalkeeping. They doubled their lead after a long goal kick from Kai Hewitt
was well flicked on by Smith and finished excellently by Kerry with his left foot.
Scole were well on top now and should have won by a more comfortable margin but the most important thing was the win and the win is what they delivered. So overall a poor 1st half performance was cancelled out by a very good 2nd half and something to build on in future weeks.
Scole now sit in 5th place and are 4 points off a promotion place with a game in hand so its all to play for. They will need to maintain the 2nd half level of performance into next weeks tough home fixture against Loddon United.
