"Scole fall at promotion rivals...!!!"
UEA fc 2 v 0 Scole United fc
Scole travelled to Norwich looking to put pressure on the teams above them! However they came across an excellent UEA side who fully deserved the win despite Scole's best efforts.
Scole were without keeper Ben Buckmaster who suffered a nasty ankle injury in training the week leading up to the game. They were also missing injured teenage defenders Reece Lanchester & Lawrence Browne and lost attacker Brad Hunt in the morning due to illness. However due to the Diss Town game being cancelled dual registered former skipper Jack Tipple
stepped into the breach.
UEA started the brighter of the 2 sides but didn't really create a clear chance until the 15th minute when a short corner wasn't cleared and the wind assisted return deceived stand in keeper Kai Hines who could only tip the ball onto the bar and the onrushing UEA forward followed up to give them the lead.
To Scole's credit they didn't give up and moments before half time Kieran Manning
had a good chance to equalise when he found space in the area only to be denied by a fantastic save from the keeper. Skipper Ben Norton
-Hugman had an effort cleared off the line from the resultant corner so UEA went into the interval one goal up.
The second half in fairness lacked any real quality from either side as the conditions began to play a major part in proceedings with heavy winds and persistent rain stooping any chance of a good game between these good young sides.
With Scole pushing forward looking for a late equaliser, Tipple was left 4 v 1 at the back and UEA broke away to kill the game off. There wasn't even time for the restart and Scole went down to a disappointing defeat against one of their promotion rivals.
Scole now have 4 massive games that will define their season.
