'1st Team progress to 3rd round of Senior Cup!'
By Alan Boulter
Scole United FC 2 v 0 Hindringham
After getting a bye in the 1st round Scole played their 1st game in the Norfolk Senior Cup at home to fellow Anglian Combination Division One side Hindringham.
With new signing from North Walsham, Connor Kerry
starting on the left in place of unavailable Dave Coleman. Scole started very brightly and it took just 3 minutes for the new man to show why manager Jon Abbott
had been so keen to sign this player on! Following good work in defence by Ashley Baxter
, the ball ended up in the far left hand corner of the pitch. Harry Rollingson
's willingness to chase the ball down saw him win it off the defender and play into Kerry whose finish showed why he was Walsham's top scorer. This early goal seemed to slow Scole down though and the game turned into a bit of a scrappy affair, Scole's second goal summed up the game perfectly, following a James Harrison
cross from the right a goalmouth scramble resulted in the ball going in from a combination of Ben Norton
-Hugman, the Hindringham keeper and a defender. The only other incident of note in the 1st half came when Ashley Baxter
became the victim of a horrendous tackle just before half-time that really deserved more than the yellow card brandished by the referee.
The second half was more of the same fare, Scole came close on a few occasions but home keeper Ben Buckmaster
was rarely threatened. Kerry was tried through the middle when Kieran Manning
came on for Rollingson and showed enough for a promising future. Baxter picked up a caution for a high tackle and was replaced by Ben Cussons
. And Callum Boulter came on for his 1st appearance of the season taking place of Harrison.
A solid if unspectacular win which puts Scole in the draw for the 3rd Round.
